Maternity cover 0.8 from November 2017

Salary: M1 (£22,692) - UPS 3 (£38,633) per year pro rata (depending on experience)


Teacher of Spanish up to KS5 with FRENCH up to KS3 required from November 2017 to cover a colleague’s maternity leave. This is anticipated to be for a period of one year, or upon the current post holders return. 

We seek to appoint a well- qualified, energetic and positive teacher who seeks, through their skilled teaching to ensure that interactive language learning motivates students to achieve success.  Passion for languages and cultures, enthusiasm for engaging students, commitment to work hard and innovatively to raise achievement, competency to use IT to enhance learning and willingness take initiative as part of a team are the key requirements of a successful candidate.

The compact yet vibrant Languages Department has a clear vision of providing students with varied, topical and challenging learning experiences in the classroom and beyond. The friendly team has its own office, a vast array of resources and well – equipped, MFL designated rooms. The team and the curriculum are designed to support the outstanding quality of teaching and learning of languages whilst creativity and individual input are encouraged and promoted.

All students at John Cabot experience either French or Spanish in KS3 and all have opportunity to continue those in KS4 and 5. All members of the department teach 2 languages and we are looking for a Modern Languages teacher who can teach Spanish up to KS5 and FRENCH up to KS3.
